Silo is one of those stories that seem to humble you and tear your head apart at the same time. Point to note about myself and this review, is that I saw the tv-series first and then read the book because I was so compelled by this story, that I just had to pick up the book.
It’s a great story about the survival of the human race, and the fact that the setting of this story is post-apocalyptic. We didn’t exactly win at saving the human race in its entirety, but did end up in underground silos, where people live their lives out under the jurisdiction of a government that is loyal and faithful to something they call “The Order.” The Order is a way of life, set of rules, and a book or guide on jurisdicition on how to live your life in the silos.
Any transgression by any invididual would result in that said individual being sent out to clean – an act that keeps the people of the silo in check, as well as sets an example to those people – a lesson in the dangers of transgression. Basically, there’s a camera outside the silo and they go out to clean it as it gathers dust and the view becomes obscured and then, promptly, die. The setting of this story, being post apolcalyptic, about a poisoned atmosphere and conspiracy within the silo(s) amongst their leadership and their people.

I’ve read the first book, Wool, and I’m currently in the middle of the second book, Shift,
as it goes, the story is explained a lot more in Shift, because, once you dwell upon in, Wool leaves you with a ton of questions, which are answered in the next book. There’s another book, called Dust, the third in the series, but I’ll get around to writing about it sometime later, because like I said, I’m on Shift currently.

The need in me wishes to discuss this book further, and I think I will, on reddit, or some other social channel, but for now, I’ll leave everything at this, and keep this review spoiler free.

The book called wool gets a 4.8 out of 5 from myself.
….. so does the tv show. And I expect season 3 and 4 to start soon. So…. Yay!
